Bidder & Consignor Regulations
Welcome to the bidding rooms of Wrenfield & Co. The following terms constitute a legally binding agreement governing participation in our on-site sales and online auctions.
All prospective bidders must register prior to bidding. Registrations require a valid government-issued ID, a working telephone number, and email. Wrenfield & Co. reserves the right to deny registration, cancel bids, or revoke credentials at its sole discretion.
A buyer's premium of 18% will be added to the hammer price of each lot sold. For example, if a lot closes at $1,000, the buyer's premium is $180, leading to a total purchase invoice of $1,180 (excluding applicable local sales tax). All invoices are subject to state sales tax unless a valid resale certificate is submitted.
To prevent "sniping" and allow all participants a fair opportunity to counter, any bid placed within sixty (60) seconds of a lot's scheduled closing time will automatically extend the bidding timer for that lot by thirty (30) to forty-five (45) seconds. Lot bidding will remain open until a full interval passes without new bids.
All lots are sold "As-Is, Where-Is" without warranties, representations, or guarantees, express or implied, regarding authenticity, attribution, condition, era, provenance, or merchantability. Descriptions and estimates are opinions only. Bidders are strongly urged to inspect catalog photographs and ask detailed questions before placing bids.
Invoices will be emailed within 24 hours of auction close. Invoices must be paid in full within three (3) business days. Payment may be made via cash, bank wire, credit card (subject to a 3% convenience fee), or cashier's check. Personal checks are not accepted. Items must be removed from our gallery or the designated estate location within three (3) business days, or be subject to storage fees.
If a buyer fails to pay in full within three (3) business days, Wrenfield & Co. may, without prejudice to other remedies, cancel the sale, hold the defaulting bidder liable for the purchase price and expenses, resell the item, or charge a restocking fee. The buyer agrees to submit to jurisdiction in Boston, Massachusetts.
